Wolves at the Con

Rob Grayston of East Midlands Megagames (EMM) talks about Den of Wolves and attending UKGE, the UK’s biggest gaming convention.

A terrorist device has severely wounded the admiral, journalistic integrity has been damaged by an enemy agent uncovered at the heart of the fleet’s media, and two of the survivor nations are coming close to blows over accusations of kidnapped work crews that were allocated between ships…

We’re hoping the players can top all of that drama we had from EMM’s last run of Den of Wolves, as an explosive start to the megagame presence at UKGE this year! Tickets are still available from the convention’s website if you fancy braving the perils of the survivor fleet’s dangerous journey.

Running on the first day of UKGE, Den of Wolves is the sci-fi megagame of teamwork, space battles, and paranoia, and is a firm favourite that we’re hoping will go down well with new megagamers. Opportunities to try multiple megagames at once are rare in the UK, and what better way to kickstart a long weekend of gaming than with a spot of resource allocation and treachery?

Visibility is certainly something megagames can sometimes struggle with when it comes to other parts of the gaming community (how many times have you been asked “what’s a megagame?”), so we’re keen to make sure this run of Den of Wolves goes with a bang – maybe there will be some new council injects, a new mechanic, or something else to keep veterans of Den of Wolves on their toes as well as entertaining new players.

Alongside a joint megagames stall in the convention itself (come and say hi!), you will also have a chance to try out Very Large Huge Game’s Aftermath, along with Event Horizon and The Raven Banner, both hosted by Reading Megagames.

So what are you waiting for? There’s strytium ore to refine, security teams to assign, and Wolf spies to catch! Join us on Friday, June 2nd and tell your friends – Den of Wolves is coming to Birmingham!
