Crisis: Mars
John Keyworth, Kiwi Game Design
Half a century after colonisation, Mars is on the verge of declaring independence...and triggering a war with Earth. Everything is going to change - can you make sure you get the most out of this time of crisis?
Crisis Mars is (by megagame standards) a very short, small game, ideal for a "taster" experience and introducing players to the idea of a megagame with minimal cost and commitment. Despite this it often results in complex, interwoven schemes and narratives.
12-18 players
All roles are narrative and negotiation focused, requiring players to come up with ideas for schemes and gain other players' support
Runs with 3 facilitators, who will be interpreting players' schemes and allocating the mechanical impact accordingly
Game license and materials available for £15
Very simple materials - three A4 "boards" and 100-ish cards
Total cost (including game files, before venue) £30-60
